Invisalign
Imogen Dental | Oxfordshire & Hampshire
We are a provider of Invisalign Clear Aligners. Invisalign offers a discreet, minimally invasive and highly effective way to change the appearance of your smile. It allows you to achieve your dream, by giving you a straighter smile in comfort, without any metal brackets or wires digging in and irritating your skin.
HOW DOES INVISALIGN WORK?
Invisalign is a virtually invisible way to straighten teeth and improve your smile. Instead of using braces, Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners to move your teeth into position. This makes it an ideal treatment option for patients who are self-conscious about wearing braces and having orthodontic treatment.
- Invisalign aligners are custom-made for your teeth. They are made to the exact specifications to ensure a perfect, comfortable fit.
- Each aligner is changed every 7-10 days and builds upon the last to move your teeth into their new position.
- But it’s not just the invisible element that makes Invisalign treatment popular; the aligners are removable so you can take them out for eating, tooth brushing and important social engagements.
Invisalign can help with a whole range of orthodontic issues, including crowding, misalignment, gaps, and incorrect bites. Straightening your teeth can also have a positive effect on your overall appearance, as bringing teeth into straighter positions enhances your facial shape and structure.
Straighter teeth and a winning smile give a huge boost to your self-esteem. Many patients find the confidence their new smile brings even starts during the treatment process, thanks to the virtually invisible clear aligners.
IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?
Invisalign® Treatment moves your teeth by applying gentle, constant force, but some people do feel temporary discomfort for the first few days of wearing a new set of aligners. Typically, people describe it as feeling “pressure” and it’s normal — it’s a sign your Invisalign® clear aligners are working and transforming your smile.
Please see your Invisalign® Doctor if you have any concerns or experience continued discomfort.
HOW LONG DOES INVISALIGN TREATMENT TAKE?
The length of treatment can vary, on average it takes about 6 months, but this is dictated by the severity of the malocclusion, wear time and product type. the complexity of your treatment will be determined by your Orthodontist.
Most people feel a difference wearing Invisalign® aligners after three months, and results are usually noticeable after six months.
IS INVISALIGN® TREATMENT RIGHT FOR ME?
Invisalign® Treatment can be a great solution for both adults and teens looking for a virtually invisible method to improve their smile. the innovations and technological advancements make it possible to fix nearly all common teeth-straightening and bite issues, from simple to complex — all without interrupting your busy life. And, thanks to a discreet blue dot on the outside of teen aligners, parents can be sure their child is wearing their clear aligners enough.
WHAT IS THE INVISALIGN TREATMENT PROCESS?
Invisalign® Treatments starts with a consultation with one of our trained specialists. We will evaluate your smile and then map out a precise, customised digital treatment plan that showcases the step-by-step transformation of your smile.
Once you approve your plan, your unique aligners will be created. You will wear each set of aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, changing to a new set of aligners every 1 to 2 weeks, as directed by your orthodontist. Each set of aligners will gently and gradually shift your teeth into place, according to your treatment plan, towards your beautiful new smile.
ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS ON WHAT I CAN EAT?
None whatsoever! Invisalign® clear aligners are removable, so there are no food restrictions at all. With traditional wires and brackets, there’s a long list of foods you, unfortunately, can’t enjoy, as they can damage or get stuck in your braces.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES?
There are advantages and disadvantages to each type of orthodontic system, Inviaslign® is one of the most popular orthodontic treatments and most patients consider the pros to outweigh the cons. At Imogen Dental, we want our patients to feel happy with their orthodontic treatment decision. While we offer a range of orthodontic appliances, so it’s completely up to you which one you get (assuming you’re a suitable candidate) for the one you choose.
Comfort – Invisalign is significantly more comfortable to wear in comparison to traditional braces. The smooth plastic rests comfortably against your cheeks, tongue, and lips and never cuts you. You won’t experience any cuts in your mouth for the duration of your treatment.
Discreet – If you think the appearance of metal braces would look embarrassing, Invisalign is a better option for you. The clear aligners are nearly invisible and most people won’t even know you’re wearing them. This means you can continue smiling in pictures and feeling confident in your smile while you secretly straighten your teeth.
Convenient – Invisalign is highly convenient since it’s become one of the most common orthodontic treatment options available. If you suddenly had to move, you could easily continue your treatment with another Invisalign dentist.
Removable – The aligners are removable which makes Invisalign convenient for lots of other reasons. To start, you can eat all of your favourite foods throughout your treatment. You can also brush and floss your teeth without any frustrating manoeuvring between brackets and wires.
Minimal Maintenance – There is minimal maintenance required for your Invisalign treatment. Although you still have to brush your teeth and clean your aligners, since you start a fresh set every two weeks, it doesn’t matter if they’re in the best shape towards the end of your two weeks. Caring for your aligners is easy, just brush them when you brush your teeth and you’ll be good to go.
Fixed braces offer much greater versatility and can be used to correct significantly more orthodontic problems in a much more predictable way.
This means many more people are candidates for fixed braces.
Although they can take more time to adapt to initially, they rely much less on compliance and in the great majority of cases, after an initial adaptation period, have minimal effect on daily life.
For some people not being able to remove their braces is an advantage and as they are working all the time, treatment times can be much shorter than in equivalent aligner cases. They are however more visible and more difficult to keep clean than aligners, which are removed for eating and hygiene. You will need to adapt your diet to avoid very hard, sticky foods and those which may cause temporary staining around brackets.
DENTAL BRACES COSTS
The cost of braces depends on the type of brace or aligners you have and your orthodontic needs. During your orthodontic consultation, our orthodontist will examine your smile and understand what you’re looking to achieve, to recommend suitable options. They’ll then go through a bespoke treatment plan, including a breakdown of the costs involved. you can also find information on this on our Fee Guide page.
